From Port Infrastructure to floating offshore wind at sea
Visit of the Port of Port-La Nouvelle and the EFGL pilot wind farm
Join us for an immersive daydedicated to floating offshore wind in Mediterranean Sea. This visit combinesthe visit of the strategic port infrastructures dedicated to offshore renewableenergies and the experience of floating wind at sea with the presentation andvisit of EFGL pilot wind farm.
Port of Port-La Nouvelle, the port of renewableenergy in mediterranean sea
Discoverhow a regional port is transforming into a key industrial base for floatingoffshore wind.
Through presentations and a guided bus tour, participants will explore:
- Port infrastructures adaptations for floatingoffshore wind
- Heavy lift and logistics capabilities
- How the Port of Port La Nouvelle is astrategic hub for the floating offshore wind industry
- The role of port in accelerating the energytransition
The port is undergoing a major transformationwith the development of deep-water infrastructure and dedicated facilities formarine renewable energies. It hosts a specialized terminal for the assembly offloating wind turbines and serves as a logistics, installation, and operationsbase for floating offshore wind projects in the Mediterranean.
Offshore Experience: EFGL pilot offshore windat sea
The offshore visit will focus on EFGL project(Eoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion), a project developed, financed, constructedand soon operated by Ocean Winds, in collaboration with la Banque desTerritoires.
EFGL is one of three floating wind pilotprojects in the Mediterranean Sea, and a pioneer in many respects: this firstfloating project assembled in Port-La Nouvelle and installed off the coast ofOccitanie is equipped with the most powerful wind turbine in France in one ofthe windiest places in Europe. This wind farm is also the first ever projectinstalled in a marine park. A technical and environmental constraint whichenables Ocean Winds to make the EFGL project a truly platform to test anddevelop innovative monitoring instruments and eco-design solutions on itsfloats to study the whole potential of floating wind on marine species growth.
Designed to test innovative floatingfoundation systems under real Mediterranean conditions, the project contributesessential operational feedback for the future commercial deployment of floatingwind technology.
Dialogue & Acceptability: A CooperativeApproach
This visit is organized in cooperation withregional fishers through Pêcheur Méditerranée Service, enabling opendiscussions on maritime coexistence and social acceptability.
Participants will benefit from direct exchanges on:
- Collaboration between offshore wind developersand fishing communities
- Shared maritime space management
- Building long-term trust and sustainabledevelopment
