The Port of Sète: marshaling harbor for floating offshore wind activities

The Port of Sète is positioning itself as a logistics hub for offshore wind energy. During the morning session and guided port tour, you will discover:

- The port’s industrial strategy regarding floating offshore wind

- Infrastructure capabilities and logistics positioning

- The broader industrial and economic impact on the territory (Presentations from SLB and SolarinBlue, more to come)

In coordination with the Port of Port-La Nouvelle, the Port of Sète plays a complementary and strategic role in supporting the long-term development of floating offshore wind activities in the Gulf of Lion.

Offshore Experience: EolMed, floating offshore wind pilot farm

The offshore visit will focus on EolMed, one of France’s pioneering floating wind pilot projects in the Mediterranean Sea. The project will be presented by the developer Qair.

Located off the coast of Occitanie, EolMed is a pilot farm composed of three floating wind turbines installed in deep waters. The project demonstrates innovative floating foundation technology specifically adapted to Mediterranean seabed and wind conditions. It represents a key step toward the commercial-scale deployment of floating offshore wind in France.

Dialogue & Acceptability: A Cooperative Approach

This visit is organized in cooperation with regional fishers through Pêcheur Méditerranée Service, enabling open discussions on maritime coexistence and social acceptability. Participants will benefit from direct exchanges on:

- Collaboration between offshore wind developers and fishing communities

- Shared maritime space management

- Building long-term trust and sustainable development

Program Overview

- 08:00 – 09:00 – Bus transfer to Port of Sète

- 09:00 – 11h30 – Presentations and guided port tour

- 11:30 – 13:00 – Bus transfer

- 13:00 – 16:00 – Boat visit to EolMed pilot farm & lunch on board

- 16:00 – 18:00 – Return to Montpellier
