FOWT 2026 - Technical tour
The Occitania/Pyrénées - Méditerranée region is organizing technical visits during FOWT with the aim of introducing you to expertise sites (ports, research centers etc) dedicated to marine renewable energy.
These visits will take place on March 26th, 2026. Places are limited. Only FOWT participants will be able to register for the technical visits.

Technical tour #1
Industrial ambitions & offshore innovation - Visit of the Port of Sète and the EolMed pilot wind farm
Join us for an immersive day exploring the strategic positioning of the Port of Sète combined with the visit to the EolMed Pilot farm.
The Port of Sète: marshaling harbor for floating offshore wind activities
The Port of Sète is positioning itself as a logistics hub for offshore wind energy. During the morning session and guided port tour, you will discover:
- The port’s industrial strategy regarding floating offshore wind
- Infrastructure capabilities and logistics positionin
- The broader industrial and economic impact on the territory (Presentations from SLB and SolarinBlue, more to come)
In coordination with the Port of Port-La Nouvelle, the Port of Sète plays a complementary and strategic role in supporting the long-term development of floating offshore wind activities in the Gulf of Lion.
Offshore Experience:
EolMed, floating offshore wind pilot farmThe offshore visit will focus on EolMed, one of France’s pioneering floating wind pilot projects in the Mediterranean Sea. The project will be presented by the developer Qair.
Located off the coast of Occitanie, EolMed is a pilot farm composed of three floating wind turbines installed in deep waters. The project demonstrates innovative floating foundation technology specifically adapted to Mediterranean seabed and wind conditions. It represents a key step toward the commercial-scale deployment of floating offshore wind in France.
Dialogue & Acceptability: A Cooperative Approach
This visit is organized in cooperation with regional fishers through Pêcheur Méditerranée Service, enabling open discussions on maritime coexistence and social acceptability. Participants will benefit from direct exchanges on:
- Collaboration between offshore wind developers and fishing communities
- Shared maritime space management
- Building long-term trust and sustainable development
Program Overview :
- 08:00 – 09:00 – Bus transfer to Port of Sète
- 09:00 – 11h30 – Presentations and guided port tour
- 11:30 – 13:00 – Bus transfer
- 13:00 – 16:00 – Boat visit to EolMed pilot farm & lunch on board
- 16:00 – 18:00 – Return to Montpellier
The offshore visit of the afternoon is subject to weather conditions.

From Port Infrastructure to floating offshore wind at sea - Visit of the Port of Port-La Nouvelle and the EFGL pilot wind farm
Join us for an immersive day dedicated to floating offshore wind in Mediterranean Sea. This visit combines the visit of the strategic port infrastructures dedicated to offshore renewable energies and the experience of floating wind at sea with the presentation and visit of EFGL pilot wind farm.
Port of Port-La Nouvelle, the port of renewable energy in mediterranean sea
Discover how a regional port is transforming into a key industrial base for floating offshore wind. Through presentations and a guided bus tour, participants will explore:
- Port infrastructures adaptations for floating offshore wind
- Heavy lift and logistics capabilities
- How the Port of Port La Nouvelle is a strategic hub for the floating offshore wind industry
- The role of port in accelerating the energy transition
The port is undergoing a major transformation with the development of deep-water infrastructure and dedicated facilities for marine renewable energies. It hosts a specialized terminal for the assembly of floating wind turbines and serves as a logistics, installation, and operations base for floating offshore wind projects in the Mediterranean.
Offshore Experience: EFGL pilot offshore wind at sea
The offshore visit will focus on EFGL project (Eoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion), a project developed, financed, constructed and soon operated by Ocean Winds, in collaboration with la Banque des Territoires.EFGL is one of three floating wind pilot projects in the Mediterranean Sea, and a pioneer in many respects: this first floating project assembled in Port-La Nouvelle and installed off the coast of Occitanie is equipped with the most powerful wind turbine in France in one of the windiest places in Europe.
This wind farm is also the first ever project installed in a marine park. A technical and environmental constraint which enables Ocean Winds to make the EFGL project a truly platform to test and develop innovative monitoring instruments and eco-design solutions on its floats to study the whole potential of floating wind on marine species growth.
Designed to test innovative floating foundation systems under real Mediterranean conditions, the project contributes essential operational feedback for the future commercial deployment of floating wind technology.
